Fortijuice
Question
My husband, who cannot tolerate milk, was prescribed Fortijuice in hospital by a dietician as he is underweight and malnourished due to persistent severe diarrhoea and occasional vomiting. However the Fortijuice didn't appear and when my husband enquired about it he was told he couldn't have it as it contained milk. Is it true that it contains milk, and if so please could you suggest a nutritional supplement that does not contain milk.
Answer
Fortijuce contains a protein which comes from cows milk, and is therefore not milk free. Nutricia do not make an oral supplement that is free of cow's milk. However, it is worth discussing with a Dietitian in the hospital about the approporate use of other Nutricia specialised energy supplements or fat supplements called modules. Nutricia do produce a soya feed that is milk free, but it is indented for use via a feeding tube. Best wishes and thank you for your question.
