Coping with side effects
When side effects of cancer or cancer treatment interfere with normal eating, adjustments can be made to ensure the patient continues to get the necessary nutrition:
- eating foods that are high in calories, protein, vitamins and minerals is usually advised,

meal planning should be individualised and planned with dietitians and nurses, to meet the patient's nutritional needs and tastes in food,

medications may be given to stimulate the appetite.
